I woke up this morning still thinking about the splendor of yesterday’s eclipse. I was fortunate enough to live in the zone of totality and I cannot even begin to describe the true feelings or emotions felt when I experienced those two magnificent minutes of eclipse totality.
I feel fortunate to have witnessed it. Why, you ask?
I admit I’m one of those people that live life moving forward at all times. I rarely stop to enjoy moments and I hardly ever look back at the past. My years of life experience has hardened me to excitement often motivated by media. If I hear the critics say a movie is “must see”, I find that I could have done without after seeing it. If I hear that “everyone is doing it” I often leave saying to myself I wish I wouldn’t have done it. When I started to hear the media hype about the eclipse, I decided that I would observe it if I could but would not be going out of my way to make it happen.
Luckily, I have children that encouraged me to spend time with them observing the eclipse that quite frankly does not happen every day of my life. Watching the moon move throughout the day was cool, but the two minutes of totality was breathtaking, staggering, and awe-inspiring.
If you asked me to describe what I saw, I could not accurately do it. Words do not express the actual experience. I have observed great photos of the eclipse, but quite frankly they do not come close to capturing the actual experience. To fully capture the splendor, you just had to experience it.
Yesterday, I found myself in awe of the perfection and precision of my creator, God. Today, I realize that many want to hear words explaining why God is great and worthy to be worshiped. Some want factual evidence or pictures to prove God’s existence before they will follow. The problem is that there are no words or pictures to accurately describe what a relationship with God is actually like. You just have to experience it. Once you experience it, you will realize that there is nothing like it and be grateful that you didn’t miss out.
I hear that there is another eclipse that will take place near my home in 2024. It will not pass over my home so a short drive will be required. I’m announcing now, I will be in the totality zone again and will not miss the experience. When it comes to the eclipse, you should experience it.
More importantly, when it comes to God, try Him. Experience Him and you will be glad, you didn’t miss out.
